Jacqueline Pena-Gomez and Mae Woolley became friends as members of Red Bank Middle School’s Class of 2020. But they went separate ways for high school — Pena-Gomez to Trinity Hall and Woolley to the Marine Academy of Science and Technology.
Red Bank Regional High School celebrated its Senior Awards recognition ceremony on June 5th, 2024, and the RBMS class of 2020 received a diverse representation of awards and scholarships. They truly represent “BIA” (Best in America) – a mindset introduced to them in their early days attending Red Bank Borough Schools. Graduates received awards related to academics, sports, and community service, as well as scholarships.
For the sixth year in a row, the Red Bank Borough Public Schools received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting. Our district has earned many awards and distinctions in recent years for individuals and programs. This particular award recognizes our attention to fiscal responsibility through planning and transparency while providing a top-quality education for the children, families, and taxpayers of Red Bank.

What an exciting sports season we enjoyed. It was a great year filled with high-levels of competition throughout all three seasons. All of our student-athletes played their hearts out and learned valuable lessons about effort and teamwork. AVID Students at Red Bank Middle School had the opportunity to attend an AVID 76ers Day in Philadelphia. Students met with executives to learn more about their career paths and they even were able to play on the basketball court! Representatives from various colleges and universities were on site to share details about their schools and generate interest in college pathways. To end their day, students were treated to a live 76ers game! What a day!

This fall students were able to examine, taste, and select from the bounty of fresh produce supplied by Sickles Market in cooperation with Chartwells Food Services and the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program. In 2014-15 the adults of our school community started to talk about the BIA mindset and attitude - Best In America. We embraced the idea of putting our best foot forward at all times for our students, their families and our community. Five years later, the BIA mindset is alive and well because what started with the adults has been reciprocated by our students. A great example of this is the recent achievements of our athletic teams, especially our Lady Rockets basketball team. They put their best foot forward on the court, in the classroom, in our hallways, and in our community.
The #RBBisBIA mindset starts with our staff and grows stronger because of our students. We have challenged our students to be their best selves in all they do - on the field, around our community, and in our classrooms. They have stepped up to the challenge and super-charged our school culture with positivity, resilience and kindness. These young women leaders exemplify our district's spirit!
“Dream BIG...We’ll Help You Get There!” is our mantra. It starts with inspiring kids to believe in themselves but the core is providing the support and pathways for our students to achieve these dreams. In one lesson, we connected our students’ dreams for a Red Bank Borough skate and bike park with a lesson in community involvement, service, leadership, and civics.
Managing the pandemic has forced us to reimagine our mission and reassess our priorities. While social-emotional learning (SEL) has always been a component of our work, the challenges presented by these extraordinary times create an opportunity for us to further understand the benefits of SEL and embrace its integration in new ways. Now more than ever, we are committed to growing hearts so that we can grow minds.
“Arts integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets dual content objectives” (The Kennedy Center for the Arts, 2021). In partnership with the Count Basie Center for the Arts and The Kennedy Center for the Arts, teachers, and students in the Red Bank Borough Public Schools participate in many performing and visual arts integration experiences during the school year.
As part of the Red Bank Borough Public Schools celebration of Black History Month, a series of videos was produced at RBMS during the month of February to inform, enlighten and educate our staff and students. This initiative helps to equip our students with the ability to navigate the increasingly complex world in which they live.
Our remarkable success as a school community is the result of many things including our commitment to the arts and our engagement in community partnerships. Our long and strong collaboration with the Monmouth Conservatory is evidence of these values. Nothing can deter us from our mission - not a pandemic or even winter weather!
The past year has been a rocky road but our Stormy Eagles have used those rocks for the better. People say the sun always shines brighter on the Primary School and our students returned the favor turning rocks into their own ray of sunshine.
Challenging times are overcome by resilient people who explore creativity, ingenuity, collaboration, and problem solving. Engineered!, the second Peninsula-based STEAM competition provided the perfect platform for local students to demonstrate these skills and attributes. And you might call it the perfect launching pad for our Rocket participants.
With safety a priority, we were excited to recently kick-off an extra-curricular basketball program for our students. Activities beyond the classroom are a key component of the #RBBisBIA educational experience. With brighter days on the horizon, we look forward to expanding student activities and an outdoor spring sports season!

The challenges of COVID-19 continue to persist; however, our commitment to reimagining what it means to be the Best School District in America for the families of Red Bank remains steadfast.
As part of our #RBBisBIA mindset we are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience for our children well beyond the main content areas. In order to inspire our students to Dream BIG, it is critical for us to use creative teaching strategies and a diverse curriculum to create well-rounded students. Arts education plays a major role in that mission from our partnership with The Basie to our Visual Arts instruction.
Our school year got off to a great start with some familiar activities. As always, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of experiences including some great art work. And we welcomed Halloween with our very own courtyard Pumpkin Patch!
The #RBWell movement started with an idea in the early Fall of 2019. In February of 2020, we kicked off the movement in grand fashion in the Red Bank Middle School auditorium. We knew self-care and well-being are critical for all, but who could have predicted what March 2020 would present? Our timing could not have been more appropriate.
When you enter Red Bank Middle School, one of the first things you see is a pennant representing Villanova University. It is one of the many pennants displayed throughout the school highlighting colleges and universities. We want all of our students to be inspired and supported to be college and career ready.
What makes a great school district? Technology? State-of-the-Art Facilities? Strong Curriculum? All of these serve their purpose but without great people you cannot have great schools. In Red Bank, we are fortunate to have some of the best educators in the country.
For several years the Red Bank Borough Public Schools have faced external issues, such as chronic and severe underfunding, which have resulted in an inequitable educational system in Red Bank. Despite these challenges the educators, families, and students of this community have embraced the #RBBisBIA mindset to achieve remarkable results - results which have been recognized by the NJDOE and our colleagues from across the State of New Jersey.
The Red Bank Borough Public Schools are dedicated to providing a well-rounded educational experience for our children. Thanks to strong community partnerships we enhance our high-quality instructional programming with a variety of extra-curricular activities to assist students in finding their passion. Our special programs include Debate, Dance, Strings, Concert Band, Rock Ensemble, a full menu of Athletic opportunities and more.
Is it about colorful and imaginative creations? Is it about collaboration and teamwork? Engineering or Art? Or is it about staff and students getting up early to enjoy each other's company and have a great time!?!? It's a little bit of everything.

Red Bank Middle School's annual Spelling Bee is always a a fun event - it's also intense! This year's participants were calm, cool, and collected. It was fun to see our students exhibit such composure under pressure on the big stage and in front of a large audience. It was even better to see the support they gave to each other.
Our award winning program exemplifies some of the very best attributes of our school district including our community partnerships, our commitment to health and wellness, our intent to be a community school, and the strong relationships we enjoy with our families.

In Kindergarten, our primary goal continues to be to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment that offers the proper balance of nurture and academic rigor. We strive to provide developmentally appropriate environments and learning experiences that stimulate and engage children. We seek to provide the highest quality of learning for all children.

Dream BIG...We'll help you get there! It's been the tagline of the Red Bank Borough Public Schools for more than 4 years. A product of one of our teachers as part of The Dream Project (see About Us), the tagline was never more evident or meaningful than a July day in Philadelphia. Tanaiya's story provides a glimpse into our schools, our resilient and talented students, and our passionate and skilled educators.
By all measures, the annual Academic Showcase at Red Bank Middle School was a huge success. The event is a perfect example of the comprehensive educational experiences our students engage in on their journey through the Red Bank Borough Public Schools.

The Red Bank Borough Education Foundation plays an integral role in supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics experiences for the children of Red Bank. The Foundation consists of people who are dedicated to providing resources which enhance the already robust instructional programming available in our schools. With the Foundation's help, we are truly able to inspire each child to Dream BIG!
A unique element of the Red Bank Borough Public Schools is our many partnerships within our community. For several years, we have enjoyed an outstanding relationship with the Count Basie Center for the Arts. It is a partnership that continues to grow as we expand our efforts to provide arts rich experiences for our children. Recently, we added the #mindALIGNED initiative as part of a Monmouth and Ocean County Collective Impact.
Walking into Red Bank Primary School, one immediately understands that this PreK to 3 learning environment is special. More notably, it can be felt. The culminating events each June take this feeling and understanding to a whole new level. The recent Kindergarten Celebration and Grade 3 Moving Up Ceremony were a great representation of the remarkable culture our school leaders, faculty, and staff have created for the wonderful children of Red Bank.
The Red Bank Borough Public Schools experience goes beyond the walls of our classrooms. We take tremendous pride in our academic programming but we are also committed to providing a wide range of extra-curricular experiences for our students. These activities include opportunities in athletics, arts, academic enrichment, and service learning. We partner with many community organizations to share a comprehensive array of experiences for our children. Our partnership with the Girls Scouts of America has been a tremendous success!
Another great crowd turns out at Red Bank Primary School for a Night of the Arts and Sciences. Our families and community had a first-hand look into the educational experiences our students explore through our robust special area instructional programming.
At its March 19, 2018 meeting the Red Bank Borough Board of Education adopted a resolution presented by Community Relations Chairperson, Tom Labetti. Prior to the adoption, several members of the public shared turns at the microphone expressing their frustration and anger with the repeated shortfall, as well as the community exhaustion resulting from the annual battle.

The #RBBisBIA story is all about providing the best edcuational experience and environment for each child of the Red Bank Borough community. Our amazing partnerships with organizations in Red Bank and greater Monmouth County help us take each child's educational journey to another level. Thanks to the Community YMCA of Red Bank, our third graders were able to learn the basics of swimming and water safety during the regular school day.
Our Boys' Soccer Team won a championship this fall. Now our Girls' Basketball team continued the success this winter! Red Bank Middle School is on a roll!
Another great example of the tremendous support we receive from our community. Thanks to The Basie our children used their voices and personalities to share the "Gifts" of life all over town!

Since 2013-14 the Red Bank Borough Schools leadership team, faculty, and support staff have garnered national, state, and local recognition. Our students continue to be our community's most important resource but our personnel is what makes the #RBBisBIA story a reality. They inspire our students to Dream BIG and provide a supportive instructional environment every day for each child to chase those dreams.
