Not Your Average College and Career Fair

An AVID Event

A wonderful highlight of the RBMS school year is the annual College and Career Showcase.  The showcase is part of the AVID March Madness initiative, which is designed to create experiences that foster awareness of college and career options. Once again, this special event really hit the mark! Each year the program expands and improves upon the last.

Over 30 guest presenters from the surrounding community shared their expertise and personal stories of success. Students were able to self-select a schedule in order to attend sessions of interest. Additionally, all students in Grades 4-8 experienced the feature presentation. Our friends at Meridian Health included a hands-on demonstration of the da Vinci Surgical System. The impressive robotic system is commonly used to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. Many students and staff were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to demo the surgical robot. Under the guidance of company representatives, our students were able to maneuver the robot in impressive tasks such as unwrapping small candies and retrieving microscopic items.

Other outstanding sessions featured Brian Donohue, who shared his experiences as a News 12 Reporter and the filming of his "Positively New Jersey" segments; local favorite, Courtlyn Crosson, owner of Coffee Corral; our partners in education, Jersey Fusion Elite Basketball Trainers Amanda Frost and Tomora Young and Lisa Hartsgrove of Project Write Now.

We are grateful for the many presenters who take time out of their busy schedules to help us inspire our students to Dream BIG!
