Spelling Bee a Huge S-U-C-C-E-S-S
GRADE 4 & 5 SPELLING BEE
The annual Red Bank Middle School Spelling Bee was a huge S-U-C-C-E-S-S on Thursday, January 3, 2019 for grades 4 and 5! Classroom spelling bees were held before the holiday break in grades 4 - 8. All students eagerly prepared for the event studying a list of over 300 words provided by Scripps. On January 3rd, fourth and fifth grades gathered for the Spelling Bee to watch the thirty-six participants put forth their best efforts. Fifth grader, Nolan Campos, spelled the championship word “conservatory” and took first place. Michael Fontanetta came in second and Jassiel Perez, also in fifth grade, came in third place. The top three spellers received gift certificates to Coney Waffle in Red Bank, college shirts and are invited to participate in the school-wide spelling bee on January 10th. All participants did an amazing job and the parents that attended were excited to see their child on stage. Congratulations to our winners and to all participating spellers on a job well done!

Congratulations go out to the following top three finishers: Michael Freeman, was our first place Bee Champion by correctly spelling ‘wastrels’. Madelyn Sanchez came in second, and Bryan Flores came in third place. Michael will represent the Red Bank Middle School in the 35th Annual Asbury Park Press and Home News Tribune Spelldown at Monmouth University in March. The entire RBMS community wishes Michael the best of luck! Thank you to all the students that participated in this year’s spelling bee. Great job everyone!
