A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener

The Red Bank Borough Public Schools mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and challenging learning environment for every student, every day.  This mission starts with our free, full-day preschool program which is highly-rated by the New Jersey Department of Education and recognized as the best in our region.  As students enter Kindergarten at Red Bank Primary School, our highly-credentialed staff and school leaders foster the appropriate environment for all learners as they continue to build a strong foundation in their educational journey.

On Tuesday, November 13th at the monthly Board of Education meeting, the kindergarten team had the pleasure of presenting “A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener at Red Bank Primary School."  The presentation was shared with our Board of Education members and the general public which included many of our PreK families. The Red Bank Kindergarten Curriculum Guide was written and piloted by Alyssa May and Lucy Lakata during the 2014-2015 school year. Both staff members are doctoral candidates at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education and currently engaged in different research projects to fulfill the dissertation requirement.  Since initiating the curriculum redesign, there has been ongoing professional development, reflection, analysis, growth, and feedback.

In this presentation, the kindergarten team shared a glimpse into a day in the life of a kindergartener at the Red Bank Primary School. Our team is made up of 6 General Education Teachers, 1 Special Education Teacher, 2 English as a Second Language Teachers, and 7 Instructional Assistants for 113 students creating class sizes all under 20.
