#RBBisBIA: It Starts with Our Staff

Since 2013-14 the Red Bank Borough Schools leadership team, faculty, and support staff have garnered national, state, and local recognition.  Our students continue to be our community's most important resource but our personnel is what makes the #RBBisBIA story a reality. They inspire our students to Dream BIG and provide a supportive instructional environment every day for each child to chase those dreams.

Most recently, two of our educators were recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE). The Exemplary Secondary Educator Recognition Program is sponsored by the NJDOE every other year to recognize outstanding educators in grade 6 through 12. Honorees positively impact their students, colleagues, and the school community; possess a clear vision for quality teaching and learning; and demonstrate exceptional teaching and leadership abilities. For 2017, only 4 teachers in all of Monmouth County were honored with this distinction. The Red Bank Borough Public School District is pleased to announce that two of these four educators call the Red Bank Brough Public Schools their home.

Susan Berrios is the English as a Second Language (ESL) Coach for the Red Bank Borough Public Schools and we are proud that she has been awarded the NJDOE Exemplary Secondary Educators Award.   Her hard work, passion for coaching, and commitment to the children of Red Bank are gifts to our school community.  Sue goes above and beyond to share her knowledge with teachers, colleagues, and administrators in order to enhance teaching and learning on all levels. Susan’s dedication, passion, hard work, and attention to detail makes her, undoubtedly, the perfect candidate for this award. Congratulations Ms. Berrios!

Amy Campbell is the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) lead-teacher at Red Bank Middle School. She establishes a welcoming, challenging, and positive learning environment for all of her students. Amy is a valued member of our school community who inspires and believes that our children can ‘Dream Big’ and achieve anything that they set their minds to. The relationships developed between Ms. Campbell and her students create an environment of trust and respect and foster a culture of high-level learning. Ms. Campbell goes above and beyond, both in school and after school to showcase and celebrate her students’ successes. We are proud to have her represent the Red Bank Middle School and our district as the recipient of the NJDOE Exemplary Secondary Educators Award. Congratulations Ms. Campbell!

The Governor’s Educator of the Year Program recognizes exceptionally skilled and dedicated licensed classroom teachers and highly qualified education services professionals.  Each honoree actively collaborates with colleagues students and families to create a strong culture of respect and success. These awards continue the tradition of excellence in the Red Bank Borough Public Schools.  In 2016, our outstanding Principal at Red Bank Primary School, Luigi Laugelli, was recognized by the NJDOE as an Exemplary Elementary Educator. Mr. Laugelli is well-respected throughout Monmouth County by his peers for sharing his knowledge and expertise. Here in Red Bank, he is beloved by the Red Bank Primary School community for his dedication to and compassion for our children. Mr. Laugelli is not our only award-winning school principal.  In 2014, Red Bank Middle School's Principal, Maria Iozzi was recognized by the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) as a visionary leader and named New Jersey Principal of the Year.  That same year, Mrs. Iozzi was honored as a National Distinguished Principal in Washington, D.C. by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). Mrs. Iozzi is currently in her 10th year as Principal and continues to provide the visionary leadership to help Red Bank Middle School get better every year.

In addition, over the past five years, 11 of our staff members were recognized by the Teachers Who Rock program. This program is sponsored by the Beasley Media Group, Inc. and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA). Each year only 24 teachers are selected. Winners are announced on 95.9 the WRAT and honored at a dinner in the spring.
